Monday’s back, so why not take on the week with some gusto? Maca powder has become one of my favorite smoothie ingredients. It’s a Peruvian root that you can buy at some grocery stores (Wegman’s, Whole Foods) or order online. (It’s expensive, but lasts for a long time.) The root is thought to have many benefits which include increased energy, endurance, and libido, as well as improved mood and mental clarity. I add a teaspoon to my smoothies and notice increased energy pretty quickly, which is always helpful when Monday rolls back around.
This smoothie is all about increasing your energy levels and mood to start the week. The earthy flavor of maca pairs well with the sweet-tart flavor of raspberry. If you don’t have maca on hand, you can omit it, but I recommend trying this root for yourself!
- 1 cup frozen raspberries
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1 tbsp almond butter
- 1 handful ice
- 2 tbsp goji berries (optional)
- 1 tsp maca
- Add all ingredients to high speed blender.
- Blend until completely pureed. Sprinkle with a few extra goji berries.
