The One Thing To Do During Your Morning Routine for More Happiness & Productivity

Lifestyle

Not to sound dramatic, but my mornings have become a pretty sacred time for me over the past few years. Figuring out my morning routine has been a slow process of trial and error, with my main goal being to set up a morning that allows me to calm, reset, focus on gratitude, spark creativity, feel awesome psychically, and prime my mind for the day ahead. I’ve tried everything from juicing to journaling to jumping on a mini trampoline, all in an attempt to find what works out best for me in the morning.

So why are morning routines such a big deal anyway? Not only can a solid morning routine help you to feel your best for the day ahead, but it can also help you to be more productive, clear, and focused so you can do and accomplish everything you want in your day.

The video above is focused on one part of my morning routine that I’ve found has had the biggest impact. And that is to get rid of my phone in the morning! I mean to not touch it, not look at notifications, not check email/Instagram/news or anything else at the front end of the day. I really believe that the second we look at our texts/calls/IG notifications, we’re expending energy outward to others- other people, other things, other areas of focus, instead of recharging our mind, body, and soul for the day ahead. The best solution I’ve found for this is to put my phone on airplane mode overnight and to turn it off only after I’ve completed my morning routine.

If you don’t believe me, try it for yourself tomorrow! Slide your phone into airplane mode tonight and don’t turn it back on until you’ve completed your own morning routine. If you don’t have a morning routine, that’s cool too! This could be the first step in one. Use the time in the morning without your phone to do something that gives your energy, helps you to focus on your goals, or clears your mind of any anxiousness or worry. Focus on what you want out of the day instead- all those notifications will still be there when you’re ready for them.

And, if my morning routine sounds at all interesting to hear about, let me know below-I’d be happy to share it! It’s taken me a long time to iron out, but I feel like I really do have something now that primes me to have an awesome freaking day.

Also- I’d love to hear about your morning routine! What are you doing when you wake up to get ready for the day ahead?

Lauren
