This green smoothie will get you through the most hectic, busiest, super stressful times of the year. I like to start up my days of a holiday party/dinner/etc with a giant green smoothie for breakfast. (I started drinking this over Thanksgiving weekend for breakfast each morning.) You might be tempted to skip food all together the morning of a big eating day/party, but I swear if you begin your morning with a nutrient-rich, powerhouse plant-based breakfast, you’ll end up making healthier choices throughout your day.
As the holidays season rolls in, our lives typically get busier and busier. Starting your day with this little slice of nutrient heaven can give you so much calm and energy. Magnesium (found in the spinach and pumpkin seeds) reduces anxiety by helping to regulate our nervous system. Complex carbs and whole-food plant nutrients will provide us with sustainable, lasting energy. You pretty much won’t need your morning coffee after drinking this. I promise.

- 1 frozen banana
- 1-2 cups spinach
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1 tbsp pumpkin seeds
- 1 tbsp cacao powder
- 1 tbsp tahini (can sub almond butter or PB if you don’t have tahini)
- Sprinkle of sea salt
- A few drops of stevia (optional, to sweeten)
- Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender.
- Blend until fully combined.
